The new Hauser & Wirth gallery opened it’s doors in Basel on June 1st.

We are very pleased that we were able to renovate and design exhibition rooms and a show room on the site of a former silk ribbon factory built in the 1880s.

The exhibition spaces at Luftgässlein 4 harmoniously complement the reduced colour palette of Vilhelm Hammershoi’s paintings.

We are very excited to share "The Silo", a short documentary directed by the young talent Aureliano Ramella.

In the documentary Harry Gugger narrates the origin of the building and the genesis of our reuse project.

The movie was selected and screened in several international film festivals including the Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam, Istanbul International Architecture and Urban Film Festival, Budapest Architecture Film Festival, and New Zealand's Architecture and Design Film Festival.

The "Prix SIA Talks" put the nine nominated projects in the spotlight. In the first talk with Nathalie Mongé, landscape architect, Guillaume Habert, expert in sustainable building, and Werner Sobek, engineer and architect, the focus is on three of the nine nominees: the Hirtenweg housing estate in Riehen, the extension of the Riaz primary school and the redesign of the English Gardens in Bern. Topics of discussion include sustainable materials, the emergence of a new aesthetic and a review of building culture in Switzerland.

The construction of the Tapetenmuseum in Kassel is progressing!
After the topping-out ceremony in December 2023, the roof structure is currently being attached.

With the Hirtenweg housing estate, the Studio Gugger team, together with Erne Holzbau and Fontana Landschaftsarchitektur, has created dense, affordable living space with a socially acceptable programme. The planners approached the project with great respect for the existing qualities. Overall, the coherence of the entire scenario is impressive. The housing estate is a place of security and contemplation.
