“Museum in Transition – Between Archive and Space for Action”
As part of the thesis project, the Museum Quarter in Bern is being reimagined as an open urban cultural space that evolves over time. The starting point is the current spatial coexistence of independent museums, in which the collaboration between autonomous cultural institutions — previously primarily conceptual in nature — is to be translated into a spatially perceptible structure. The project investigates how a historically developed collection of individual museum buildings can become a coherent quarter with its own identity, without sacrificing the independence of the institutions.

08th June 2026, Important Milestone for the New Birsfelden Town Center!

Progress is being made on the new Birsfelden town center: the Municipal Council has decided to award the building lease plots to the housing cooperatives wohnen&mehr and Redingbrücke Housing Cooperative.
The two cooperatives impressed the selection committee with their joint application in September 2025. Redingbrücke Housing Cooperative contributes the experience of a well-established cooperative in the nearby Breite district, while wohnen&mehr has created an impressive example of urban, intergenerational living at the Westfeld development in Basel, combining new residential buildings with renovated existing structures.
The Municipal Council is convinced that the two cooperatives will play a key role in creating a vibrant and diverse neighborhood in the center of Birsfelden.
On 10 June 2026 at 7:00 p.m., the leaseholders will present themselves and their project ideas at a public information event. The final approval of the building lease plots is scheduled for the municipal assembly on 22 June 2026.

June 2026, Frenkendorf: Building permit application published, construction profile installed

Based on our district development plan, we were able to submit the building permit application for the residential and commercial development on Parkstrasse in Frenkendorf in mid-May. At the same time, the impressive construction profile was erected.

The site will feature 230 attractive apartments, offering a wide range of apartment sizes and housing types with varying floor areas and fit-out standards, accommodating approximately 430 residents. In addition, the development will include a discount supermarket and around 1,300 m² of flexible commercial space for businesses, services, and neighborhood-oriented uses, creating approximately 100 jobs.
